Australeden has been completely refurbished, while retaining the best of traditional local style - exposed beams, timber floors, stone walls. It is comfortably furnished with a happy mix of antique and new. The eat-in kitchen has all new appliances, and contains plenty of crockery, cutlery and glassware. The bathrooms are also spacious and new, while all beds are modern and have good mattresses. The dining table seats 10.
The house is warm in winter, with every room centrally heated and an open fire in the living room. In summer, thick stone walls keep the living areas cool, while all bedrooms have ceiling fans.

Please take a look at a selection of photographs of the interior here.

Montcuq

Montcuq was a thriving village as far back as Gallo-Roman times. The name comes from "mount cugnus" (cone-shaped hill), and you can still climb the 13th century tower above Australeden.
The village is on the famous pilgrim route of St. Jacques de Compostelle, which leads all the way into the heart of Spain.
Montcuq comes alive each week (twice a week in summer), at the local market, with colourful stalls selling handicrafts and local produce such as fruit, cheese and wine.

The Local Market

A choice of shops (including chemist, boulangeries and butchers), banks, bars and restaurants are within 100 metres of Australeden.
Montcuq has tennis courts, a swimming pool and also a lake (with a beach, café and playground).
